The Six-sided Cube
Symbiote offers a variety of solutions for the unique needs of todays lab. But these solutions vary depending upon when we get involved in the planning process. Think of the space the lab will occupy as a three dimensional six-sided cube. The walls probably have an existing infrastructure of electrical and data lines and the space may have a raised floor and a dropped ceiling accommodating additional wiring and cabling.
Reactive Planning
In a well developed space with a raised floor and a dropped ceiling, Symbiote will offer solutions that tie into the existing infrastructure with a gridwork of frames and racks made up of either the highly stable and structurally solid UltraFrame system, or the economical and versatile QuadPost system. Either system will configure into a gridwork called the Symbiote Structural Utility Wall, or SSUW. This gridwork of frames and racks forms virtual walls throughout the facility for holding equipment and running electrical and data cables. Because the space is well developed with a raised floor and dropped ceiling, planning this grid is reactive to the existing infrastructure and may not be as versatile in the long run.
Proactive Planning
Technical furniture has capabilities often overlooked by professional planners. A less well developed space without a raised floor or dropped power from the ceiling will offer the opportunity for a more versatile solution. Incorporating wire and cable runs into the grid vertically and horizontally using Symbiote frames, overhead ladders and support trees can save on laboratory costs and allow for faster and easier reconfiguration of the lab when the inevitable changes occur. Symbiotes creative use of vertical space adds up to even more savings and the Symbiote Structural Utility Wall, even with generous access aisles, offers maximum flexibility. In some installations, Symbiote products can make access aisles unnecessary, resulting in the biggest savings in floor space. Over 35% in total lab costs can be saved by incorporating Symbiote solutions.
