Ultra Lab

Mobile

The laboratory market presents a great opportunity for Symbiote products and we are working on a standard solution to meet the need for base and wall cabinets. The key features of the integration of Symbiote Ultra Frames with cabinets would be systems modularity and mobility. Mobile base cabinets, stationary base cabinets, sink base cabinets, floor cases (free-standing vertical storage), and frame-mounted wall cases will be added to our catalog. All of these types of cabinets can be ordered as specials until we have our system fully updated with the standards.

We are currently in the testing phase of product development for the lab cabinet product line. Testing was recently completed on brackets that were designed to support wall cases on Ultra Frames. A set of four brackets will support any width wall case and prevent dislodgement from the hanger frame.

As a complement to the new base cabinets, a new leg to support Ultra Frames is being designed. The leg will be offered in two fixed heights to match the cabinets – 29” and 35”. The surface mounting holes are integral to the lab leg so a surface support bracket will not be needed unless the leg also supports an adjacent surface.

20 amp Plug Strips

In an effort to reduce costs, we added a design change to the 20 amp Plug Strip. The new 20 amp Plug Strip will share the same housing footprint as the 15 amp Plug Strip. By using simplex instead of duplex 20 amp receptacles and a combination circuit breaker / switch, the housing size for the 20 amp plug strip has shrunk down to the size of our 15 amp version. The “EPX” product number will be phased out and replaced by “EPS20” product numbers as inventory is depleted.

Look for the release of the 20 amp Plug Strip later this summer, 2009.

DC Table Drives

We are researching a DC drive system as a replacement / alternative to the current AC drive system used in all of the height adjustable table products and the effects such a change would have on our UL listing.

The DC drive should offer increased load capacity, user height memory settings and quicker adjustment speed. The new drive system was demonstrated at NeoCon 2009.

Be watching for Symbiote's new DC drive system to replace the current ErgoStat, Table Base and WorkTable AC drive system in early 2010.
